ABOUT COMPETITIONS
Competitions are a major part of Music Playground. They drive the site forward and inspires musicians to reflect and constructively think about music and music-creation. Competitions are a great tool for guiding the less experienced artists to better themselves and grow. We have several amazing and dedicated reviewers, that spend hours writing constructive criticism on every submitted track.
Any and everyone can join a competition. Send in a track of you punching a red herring or shaking an egg, and you will propably still get a decent review and reflective opinion. We do not prefer any genres, but are generally leaning towards the electronic side, since many of us are "bedroom" producers/artists, but we love surprises, so don't hold back with that opera or muzak.

How do the competition work?
The competition is announced a month (or more) before the Upload Deadline.
There are three deadlines in each competition:
Upload Deadline
When this deadline is reached, the tracks are released, and the voting begins.
Join Deadline
This deadline is 2-3 days before the Voting deadline. You can join the competition with a track, untill this deadline.
Voting Deadline
This is the final deadline, and no more votes are counted when it is reached.
A few minutes after this deadline, the result ceremony is held in the
mchat section of the forum.
When the ceremony is over, the detailed results is to be found in the results section of the competition page.
What are categories?
In each competition there are several categories to vote for. There are 5 main categories (Overall, Production, Arrangement, Drums & Sound Design), 3 sub categories (Vocals, Lead & Originality) and 2 special categories (Glory & Coal). The categories are there to supplement in reviews of each track, and can offer niche artists praise, when they won't fare that well in the Overall category.
You can read more on each category here
How does the point system work?
When all the votes are counted, they go into a system of main points and sub points.
The main points are the votes given directly to the artist in each category.
The sub points are the sum of all the
main points in the main categories, not counting the category's points itself.
Voting gives 1 point in each category. This is done to reward those artists, that take the time to vote.
